Course Overview
The fashion industry significantly helps to drive the global economy, with a turnover of about $3 trillion.
The textile-fashion supply chain has also been actively working toward environmental sustainability for about 10 years, resulting in a change of business models that now focus on goals of structured circularity and sustainability.
These two aspects of the industry have increased the amount of professional resources in the fashion world.
IAAD.’s master’s programme offers students the opportunity to specialize in the area of management, leading them to develop key skills to fill roles in Marketing, Buying, Communication, Social Media Management, Business Development, Events and Retail in the Fashion, Luxury and Lifestyle sectors. It is also designed for entrepreneurs who wish to develop fashion-related business projects.
The master’s course focuses on the current fashion environment, with particular attention given to new consumer behaviors resulting from the digital revolution and production processes in relation to the circular economy, environmental ethics and territorial development.
The first part of the course will analyze supply chains, addressing the circular economy with project/case studies entirely dedicated to the sustainable supply chain, from the identification of a sustainable fabric, through the production cycle to the communication of a sustainable ethical manifesto to the end customer.
Study of the fashion company will explore fashion economy and marketing, focusing on the organization of the company and the processes through which fashion becomes an industrial product of important commercial value.
Business communication techniques will be explored in the different segments of business communication, institutional communication, management communication and economic-financial communication.
In fashion project communication, analytical and theoretical tools used to create a brand strategy will be emphasized.
The second part of the Master’s will focus on an approach to digital reality, with two classes dedicated to writing techniques for media and graphic design, respectively.The second semester will be more operational in character, addressing event and exposition space design with particular attention given to concepts of visual merchandising.
COURSE DELIVERY, ATTENDANCE AND PARTICIPATION
The instructional approach of the Master’s programme is characterized by face-to-face lectures and workshops with compulsory attendance. Active class participation and the timely fulfillment of all assignments are required. In addition, students must develop a final project that will be evaluated by the committee in the examination period.
During the academic year, IAAD. may organize educational visits to companies, exhibitions and museums, special workshops, and meetings with relevant professionals.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND PROCEDURES
Qualified candidates for the Master’s programme are students who have completed a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Fashion Design, business and humanities degree programmes, and professionals interested in pursuing a specialization in fashion management.
Applicants should have a solid general education and strong curiosity for art history, contemporary art, film, psychology, sociology, and literature. Admission is subject to the evaluation of the application, which must include a motivational letter, curriculum vitae and possibly a portfolio. IAAD. reserves the right to ask the candidate for an in-depth interview on site or via Skype, if deemed necessary.
Enrollment in the Master’s programme is possible only with the approval of the Course Coordinator, based on the evaluation of academic qualifications, professional curriculum vitae and possible portfolio.
Coursework for the Master’s programme includes a thesis project that is developed in collaboration with a company that operates in the field. The project begins with an initial briefing and subsequent discussion meetings with the partner company as the project takes shape, a collaboration that continues until the final discussion of the thesis.
In order to offer its students the best opportunities on the market for creative professionals, IAAD. manages contacts between its students and the professional world, introducing its graduates to the top businesses in their fields. IAAD. has fostered relationships with companies that has resulted in a regularly updated database of businesses that continuously contact the Institute to find young, talented professionals to fill open positions.

IAAD. supports students with scholarships that partially cover the cost of attending the Master’s programme and with subsidized financing to continue their studies.
nb: The number of scholarships available is always fewer than the number of applications received, so it is important to keep in mind that most scholarships are awarded based on the committee’s evaluation of a number of main requirements including:

IAAD. offers 5 scholarships at 50% of the tuition fee.
The scholarships will be awarded to applicants who have received by email the official notice of eligibility to attend the course of study.
