A WORKSHOP TO IMAGINE AND DESIGN THE HYPERCAR OF THE FUTURE
Your dreams into action – the hypercar as a haute couture dress is an international workshop by the Transportation Design Department dedicated to exploring the concept of the hypercar as a synthesis of extreme performance, radical design, and a purist driving experience. An intensive program that invites students to return to the fundamentals of design, placing the driver, lightness, and advanced engineering at the center of the project.
The workshop approaches the hypercar as an essential, aerodynamically pure design object, inspired by open-wheel race cars and fighter jets. Through research and project development, students work on eliminating the superfluous, optimizing mass, and integrating aesthetics with performance, interpreting Italo Calvino’s “La leggerezza” within the context of contemporary transportation design.
The program unfolds over five days of activities, alternating phases of research, development, and project finalization. Visits to MAUTO – the National Automobile Museum – and to the Pista 500 enrich the experience, strengthening the connection with automotive culture and with the historical context in which the automobile was born.
Guided by Davide Tealdi, designer and lecturer with extensive experience in transportation design, students work in an international and collaborative environment, engaging in dialogue on method, vision, and design language. The workshop is conceived as an open space for experimentation, exchange, and project-based growth.
The workshop offers a reflection on the future of analog driving in an increasingly digital world, encouraging students to translate personal visions into coherent, radical, and poetic hypercar concepts. A design experience that brings together imagination, technique, and design culture.
