IAAD. – Istituto d’Arte Applicata e Design is participating in the 10th edition of Fashion Graduate Italia, an event organized by Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda, where young talents from the best Fashion Schools and Academies will showcase their innovative projects and content in both physical and digital displays.The collection presented for this edition is inspired by the chaos and unpredictability of climate change; the transformable and adaptable garments reflect the relationship between nature and artificiality, inviting a collective commitment towards a more conscious future.

“REVERSE CHANGE”

a collection of 25 outfits inspired by the context of chaos and unpredictability characterized by climate change, increasingly dramatic and urgent, prompting individuals to reflect on their role, sustainability, and the relationship between nature and artificiality. Each piece is born from the fusion of artistic expression and environmental sensitivity, with the aim of encouraging personal and collective commitment towards a more conscious future.
The outfits, made by reusing old paragliding sails, are designed to be transformable and adaptable, thus responding to climate changes in a versatile manner. The fashion show will be accompanied by a sound performance, intended to amplify the atmosphere and engage the audience in a unique interactive experience.

Entry is free with compulsory pre-registration (subject to availability) on the Fashion Graduate Italia website.

IAAD. Bachelor’s in Transportation Design

IAAD. – Istituto d’Arte Applicata e Design participates in the 2023 edition of Fashion Graduate Italia, the event organised by Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda in which the young talents from the best Fashion Schools and Academies will present themselves through innovative projects and content in a physical and digital showcase.
The collection presented in this ninth edition is inspired by the power of words. Words are seen as vehicles for expressing ideas, values, and messages. The garments thus become “messengers” that, either boldly or more subtly, communicate and share thoughts and ideals. The fashion show represents the key moment to courageously and creatively express one’s words, with the aim of stimulating reflection and promoting change in society.

Alessia, Alice, Aurora, Elisa e Keti, the talented graduates in Textile & Fashion Design of the IAAD., will show λόγος on the catwalk.

The collection starts from a scientific-philosophical analysis on the role of the word and, in a broader sense, language in relation to today’s society.
The subject areas addressed range from self-knowledge through the other, the search for balance through thought change, the influence and impact of words on our soul, the evocation of lost values through encrypted language, and the alleviation of the burden of life through therapy.
Experimental cuts, shapes and workmanship turn fabrics into canvases of awareness on which our ideals are imprinted
The clothes come to life from the totality of experiences, translated into a cohesive and incisive collection.

IAAD. and Raduno di stile

The car design community comes together at the MAUTO.

On the occasion of MAUTO’s anniversary, IAAD. is activating its community and is organising an open-air exhibition in collaboration with the 7th edition of Raduno di Stile. The exhibition, which will take place on Friday July 21st from 17:50 to 19:00 in front of the Museo dell’Automobile di Torino headquarters in Corso Unità d’Italia 40, will feature iconic car design models presented by car designers from the main Italian and International style centres in the area.

“EFFea, omaggio alla vitalità e alla creatività” (EFFea, a tribute to vitality and creativity)

Unique artwork handmade in Italy, it will be presented and signed by the designers during the night and will be donated to the MAUTO for its 90th birthday.

This work is the result of a journey in a world of colours, imagining crossing the rainbow to collect brightly coloured drops and hold them on the metal.

The yellow background, Modena’s colour, is a tribute to Dr. Mariella Mengozzi’s radiance. 

The traced lines bring to mind those of the hand and represent professional careers. Some intersect, some are distant or parallel. All sharing a sense of belonging to the magical world of automobile.

Colours and lines run in the direction of travel, leaving the viewer curious to chase chromatic backgrounds, to find continuity in the aerodynamic flows and turn them into personal feelings.   

Technique: acrylic paint and coloured pigments heated up to 250° and blown onto the bodywork, stabilized through thermic shock.

IAAD. and MAUTO for the young guests of Regina Margherita

On the same day IAAD.’s Community, in collaboration with F.O.R.M.A. – Fondazione Ospedale Infantile Regina Margherita Onlus – is involving the children of Regina Margherita in the celebrations, with a day of creative laboratories in the wards held by a group of volunteers made of professors and designers.

Among the proposed activities: design stories, video and images storytelling, drawing laboratories on paper and fabric. The activities will be organised in collaboration with the MAUTO, that is offering a free and guided visit to a group of patients being cured at the Infantile, and with CARIOCA, that will provide materials for the laboratories and some prices for the children.

For this eighth edition, dedicated to sustainable innovation, students are called to put their creativity to work on important factors such as research into sustainable materials, energy-saving solutions, environmental policies, product life extension and “end of life” management.

Ayame Federica, Elisabetta, Manuela, Matteo and Jehona, IAAD. students of the Textile & Fashion design Course, will show the CORPUS VERBI collection on the catwalk.

CORPUS VERBI
The collection contemplates and summarizes five individual projects with great expressive and narrative power and the result of an articulated and multidisciplinary path of analysis and research.
The general theme, then declined in the individual projects, is that of COURAGE, which passes from a conceptual and abstract dimension to a physical and material representation capable of manifesting itself and expressing itself through a language.
Such the symbiosis between language and body is narrated from a dynamic performance that will tell the evolutionary path of a “creature”, an entity, whose growth depends on the language it uses and builds during its evolution.
The structures and shapes of the garments are unusual and unusual while the materials used for the packaging are subject to a reuse and recycling process and come from areas and contexts other than clothing. The fabrics, applications and imitation leather materials are the result of innovative research and experimentation starting from the manipulation of some organic elements.
The forms and materials thus become the signs of a language and a form of dynamic, kinetic and engaging expression.
